Job Summary

The Manager of Global Supply Planning is responsible to oversee all activities involved in the planning of product groups assigned to their planners as well as aligning capacities, production, purchasing, and inventories to support the sales and marketing objectives of these categories. Key to successfully managing this responsibility will be the ability to take strategic direction from leadership and cascade it down to the team creating a tactical plan to support the business goals. The Manager role is an integral part of the supply chain organization as they oversee the actions taken to actually implement the supply plan.

This position is responsible for providing detailed direction and leading their supply planners in managing up to 1500 style/colors and/or styles with an annual forecast range from 20-30 million units. They provide analyses and reporting to initiate the supply plan at a high level. This position is also responsible for coordinating with Internal Manufacturing, central and regional Sourcing offices, Sales, Merchandising, Replenishment, and Demand Planning to ensure targeted service levels and inventory goals are met.

They guide decisions to achieve the optimal inventory levels and targeted fill rates at the style/color/size level which has significant financial impacts to Kontoor shipment forecasts and inventory carrying costs. They also provide vital cross functional communication throughout the supply chain as well as to the business on any supply challenges we face within their assigned product groups as well as updates on new product launches. They are a key voice within the organization representing the work of the entire supply chain directly to the business.

Further duties include the direct management of 3-6 salaried employees as well as working on process improvement projects, new product launches, supply chain initiatives, and system upgrades and implementations.  They play a critical role in mentoring individual contributors and growing the talent within the Kontoor organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage work of their planning team and oversee the analysis and publication of supply requirements for assigned product groups. This will include fully utilizing mini lines capacities, coordinating with sourcing offices to develop capacity plans to support forecast, service, and inventory requirements for assigned product groups.
  • Initiate supply plan at a high level by creating buy plans, defining internal mini line capacities, analyzing net position reports, determining fabric buys, and fabric color ups.
  • Participate in cross functional meetings and provide key communication and updates to the business and fellow supply chain leaders to drive business decisions. Collaborate on key business initiatives and supply chain projects.
  • Participate in and lead efforts to build best practices within the entire planning team. Play an active role in understanding new and existing system functionalities and disseminate this information to their team.
  • Communicate to supply planning leadership any developing issues that may jeopardize on time customer deliveries and propose corrective action where appropriate. Partner with cross functional teams to improve the supply and demand match to achieve Kontoor financial goals.
  • Mentor and develop their team to grow Kontoor talent by coaching, training, managing performance and providing growth opportunities.

Experience

  • Experience in supply, demand, or production planning with a proven track record of success.
  • Experience in a role that allowed for influencing and leading subordinates or peers.
  • Experience in a role that allowed for exposure to multiple aspects of supply chain including supply planning, demand planning, sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, or customer service.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Planning, or a related field.
