Payments Network Technology is seeking a Manager of Software Engineering to lead one or more squads delivering secure, scalable, and highly available payment-network solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native engineering practices.
Roles and Responsibilities• Lead, coach, and develop one or more software engineering squads.• Own delivery, quality, operational readiness, and production outcomes for Java and Spring Boot services.• Guide the design and implementation of microservices, REST APIs, Kafka-based integrations, and event-driven solutions.• Manage team capacity, hiring, performance development, career planning, and succession.• Partner with product, architecture, quality engineering, operations, and dependent teams to manage priorities, risks, and dependencies.• Drive secure engineering, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, resiliency, and continuous improvement.• Communicate delivery status, technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders.
Essential Skills• Hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot development.• Experience with microservices, REST APIs, Kafka or similar messaging platforms, and event-driven architecture.• Knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases, Git, automated testing, CI/CD, containers, and cloud-native platforms.• Understanding of secure, scalable, resilient, and observable software design.• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
All About You• Experience managing one or more software engineering squads.• People-management experience including performance management, conflict resolution, coaching, and career development planning.• Experience working in Agile delivery environments and across the software development lifecycle.• Clear communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted engineering tools, including GitHub Copilot and Claude CLI, to improve engineering efficiency is required.• Payments or financial-services domain knowledge is preferred.
