The Opportunity: Bringing MongoDB 3.0 Leadership to India’s Recruiting Function

India is designated as a critical growth engine for MongoDB 3.0. To align with this regional growth, we are actively seeking a results-oriented Recruiting Manager who will step-in as the founding site lead for Talent Acquisition in India. This individual will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a standard of world-class performance across the entire region in this dynamic, dual-focus leadership role. Approximately 50% of your time will be dedicated to direct people leadership, managing a team of recruiters to strategically meet the ambitious hiring demands of a specific business unit. The remaining 50% will be allocated to high-impact, country-level strategic initiatives benefitting the entire India recruiting team: this includes architecting a best-in-class organizational culture, driving operational excellence and rigor, spearheading recruiter training and upskilling opportunities, and serving as the definitive India hiring expert for the Recruiting Leadership Team to ensure we maintain a powerful competitive edge in this vital talent market.

What You Will Lead and Drive

As the senior-most Talent Acquisition leader in India, your core mission is to empower, engage, and equip our India team to achieve our talent strategy. This role requires a unique balance: you will lead a high-performing team while also driving country-level programmatic initiatives to ensure operational excellence and competitive advantage. In this role, you will be expected to understand our holistic delivery, partnerships with the business and production in-country - assessing what is working well and what can be optimized. While the scope of this role is dynamic and will evolve with future business needs, the immediate focus includes the following key responsibilities:

  • Direct Business Unit Ownership: Serve as the recruiting manager for a team of India-based recruiters, directly owning your team's execution, delivery, and relationship-building with senior stakeholders.
  • Country-Wide Programmatic Leadership: Act as the central driver of operational rigor, process standardization, and compliance for hiring across all business units in India. Define, document, and embed best-practices and workflows that guarantee consistently high-quality service, efficiency, and scale across India hiring activities. Pioneer process improvements and recruiting strategies specifically tailored to the unique dynamics and competitive nature of the Indian talent market. Oversee team-wide load balancing across India-based recruiters, ensuring the team’s capacity is reviewed holistically versus by BU to drive maximum productivity and effectiveness.
  • Culture Carrier: Uplift an exceptional culture across our India Talent Acquisition team for onsite and remote employees; plan and execute team-building activities and celebrations throughout the year, support new hire integration onto the team, creating a strong and inclusive in-office presence, identify ways to drive increased connection and community across the entire function and People Team at-large. 
  • Development, Coaching, and Training: Coach, mentor, and train your direct reports, while concurrently leading core recruiting trainings and upskilling sessions for the broader Talent Acquisition organization in-country, ensuring uniform understanding and adoption of processes and tools and maximising IC development and output. Support the development and progression of key individuals from all TA BUs in collaboration with RLT/eRLT.
  • Consulting: Function as the go-to subject matter expert for all India recruiting activities for the RLT, maintaining strong, up-to-date knowledge of local employment law, compliance, compensation norms, and hiring best practices. As a primary liaison between RLT and the India recruiting team, you will routinely present to the RLT on topics critical to hiring success in India, ensuring leadership buy-in for regional approaches.
  • Stakeholder Partnership: Build influential, consultative relationships with key India-based senior business leaders across Sales, Engineering, and G&A and establish strong cross-functional partnerships with local HR and Employee Experience teams; serve as a primary expert for the local leadership and HR teams on recruiting issues, talent market trends, and sourcing strategies to help guide team expansions and future regional growth.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Bring
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of Talent Acquisition experience, with a background within a high-growth technology company in India.
  • Leadership & Horizontal Impact: Experience in managing, mentoring, and/or leading a team of recruiters, ideally across multiple functional areas (e.g., Sales, Engineering), with a proven track record of driving consistent processes and operational excellence.
  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to comfortably collaborate and consult with senior leadership on both strategic roadmaps and tactical hiring plans across diverse business units. Experience serving as a strategic talent consultant to leaders, leveraging data to drive recruiting approaches and influence stakeholders.
  • Market Expertise: Advanced knowledge of the Indian talent market, local sourcing strategies, and tools for high-demand roles (Technical, GTM, and G&A).
  • Core Competencies: Exceptional communication, organizational skills, and a strong attention to detail. You must have the ability to effectively manage and communicate competing priorities while thriving in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

Onsite Presence: Ability to work from the Gurugram office at least once per week to support a strong in-office/flex culture.
