The Global Products Operations team is looking for a talented leader to join the project management team to manage the next generation software and services being developed for our customers. We are looking for a person to lead both new software development as well as sustaining feature development. Our mission is world class program management with emphasis on risk management and executing to plan.
Job Description:
Manage and mentor a dedicated team of project manager professionals, ensuring that best practices are followed and that team members are continuously developing their skills.
Drive the strategic planning and execution of a portfolio of projects, ensuring that timelines are met and that deliverables align with the company’s vision and standards.
Responsible for managing a team or project managers delivering software development projects inclusive of new services introduction, new product / releases introduction and on-boarding new customers.
Presents project status to all levels of the organization (VP level and above).
Collaborates with all stakeholder to drive transformational change in the way software is developed and delivered.
Develops project charters and obtains project sponsor/stakeholder buy-in for project initiation.
Monitor project execution to ensure all obligations are met and drive projects to completion.
Collaborate with global stakeholders (internal and external) to resolve conflicts and drive successful delivery of projects.
Manages expectations of project sponsor and stakeholder with timely communication/escalation of risks/issues, their impact, and mitigation/corrective actions.
Utilizes risk management methods to manage program risk, and to enable predictable outcomes.
Identifies and mitigates project risks. Owns resolution to any dependency or issue not being delivered by the appropriate party.
Familiar with the Phase Gate methods as part of the software development life cycle.
Familiar with waterfall and agile development methodologies and their associated quality assurance methods.
Proven experience in project management and software development.
Basic Requirements
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or similar is preferred.
Minimum 10 years leading a team of program managers.
Minimum 10 years Project Management experience, preferably with experience in Software Development, Telecommunications, Radio Communications, or Aerospace/Defense preferred.
Has the ability to recognize talent and attributes in subordinates relative to the skills required to be a successful and professional Project Manager, and the skills to mentor and train those identified.
Excellent communicator. Is able to develop and implement communication plans and strategies. Is sought to prepare and/or deliver extremely complicated or sensitive messages, or those requiring significant skill in persuasion.
Understands, uses and interprets abstract concepts. Understands and can craft effective messages for significantly different audiences and outcomes. Has established credibility and may be sought for spokesperson roles.
Has working knowledge of most specialty areas.
Correlates highly with expert change manage ment and influence/persuasion competencies.
Demonstrates expert skill and knowledge of several, advanced techniques for affecting and facilitating personal and group decision-making, and naturally incorporates these into daily activities. Coaches others through difficult decision making situations.
Anticipates longer range, larger scale needs and issues and develops appropriate strategic plans to expertly manage the required changes, which may extend beyond the scope of job responsibili ties.
Has expert knowledge of change management principles and processes. Is capable of executing change strategies to successful completion with only broad direction.
Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to collaborate with internal and external business/technical teams.
Highly organised, structured, and process oriented; team building skills a plus.
Able to simplify a complex situation and provide updates accordingly.
