The Management Accountant supports Senior and Chief Accountants in overseeing financial management for retail sites, including profit and loss management, sales invoice processing, and month-end reporting. Responsibilities include reconciliations, financial analysis, and staff training, ensuring adherence to accounting procedures and deadlines.
Main Purpose:Support the Senior & Chief Accountants in managing all financial aspects of the Retail Network, specifically managing individual Retail Site Profit and Loss & preparing accounts to Trial Balance stage.Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities ( Pointers shared in the Business Case for Analyst level role)
- Management of individual site Profit and Loss for Retail Sites including accruals & ensuring correct allocations
- Provide accurate sales invoice data to the analysts and reporting finance team
- Management of sales invoice processing including understanding the data flow and confirming all files are accounted for
- Must have an understanding of the retail POS systems and reporting
- Oversee/process Prepayments, Utilities, Accruals & manage monthly reconciliations
- Calculate commission and other site calculations including invoicing
- Assist in processing intercompany settlement and reconciliations
- Responsible for training of staff members, mentoring and monitoring performance
- Indirect supervision/follow-up of Finance Assistants
- Ensure accrual accounting procedures are adhered to
- Analyze FX impact and posting
- End of month journals including prepayments and accruals
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Analysis and investigation of variances
- Perform Bank reconciliation
- Support external auditor’s preparation of audit files, preparation of annual financial statement (IFRS) etc.
- Ensure all end of month procedures are completed within deadline
- Completion of month end & other regular reporting
- Assist in the development & implementation of Financial Control Reviews for our retail network
- Other ad-hoc finance duties when required
Experience
- Qualified Chartered Accountant
- Having 2+ years’ experience in performing Assistant Accountant/Finance Assistant functions for a medium to large commercial organization
- Demonstrated understanding of fundamental accounting principles
- Experience within a retail and/or multi location business
Skills
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with finance team to achieve section objectives
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks
