As a Lean Engineer in the Operations department, you will have one of the most critical roles at the company. You will be a member of the team that produces the best-in-class, tough-as-nails product that YETI is known for. This individual will interface with workstream and business owners within Procurement, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, Product, Finance, Legal, and beyond to identify and eliminate waste to support the strategic goals of the organization. This role will be primarily focused around manufacturing product in a fast-paced environment but will also touch all are-as of our value stream such as order management, logistics and fulfillment, as well as general business processes. We do whatever it takes to improve all products and processes, across all categories, across all our global supply chain.
YETI seeks an experienced Lean Engineer with a solid foundation of lean tools, processes, and methodologies. This individual is extremely proficient at communicating accurate information both out and up. We need a self-starter who is a humble, meticulous, hardworking, collaborative and loves to solve problems (see Core Values).
Responsibilities:
• Own the execution of multiple Lean initiatives in an organized, detailed manner. This will require cross-functional coordination, communication, influence, and negotiation.
• Effectively and efficiently communicate information including technical requirements to stakeholders and lead-ership via presentations, dashboards, email, verbal, etc.
• Develop, implement, and improve processes, techniques, tools, and templates used by the team
• Partner with Procurement to understand financial metrics, collaborate on the cost reduction roadmap based on should-cost analysis, and drive out waste to ensure cost targets are achieved
• Create baseline models for cost, cycle time analysis and throughput improvement, and identify key cost out op-portunities
• Lead cost elimination efforts for YETI products by developing, implementing, and driving closure of VA/VE initia-tives
• Lead initiatives to improve pass-through rates and drive continuous process improvement at supplier factories
Qualifications and Attributes:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or STEM-related field
• 2-4 years of experience in operations, manufacturing, process improvement or related field. Consumer product experience is a plus.
• Innovative and creative problem solver with meticulous attention to detail and a stickler for time management.
• Team player with demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at various organizational levels inter-nally and externally
• Open to bi-directional feedback and able to apply it to improve themselves, their team, and YETI
• Willingness to travel 70% or more
