Title: Lead Software Engineer
The Group: The IWPT Marketplace team at Morningstar is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to spearhead the development and maintenance of our Datafeed applications built using Node.js and ASP.NET. These applications are essential for delivering timely and accurate data to our clients, ensuring the smooth operation of their financial systems.
The Role: As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end development, reliability, and performance of our Datafeed applications. You will lead and manage engineering teams, drive strategic initiatives, and collaborate closely with clients and internal stakeholders to enhance functionality, troubleshoot issues, and ensure continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of Datafeed applications using Node.js or ASP.NET.
  • Lead and manage engineering teams, providing technical direction, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Datafeed processing, data accuracy, and application functionality.
  • Design and implement strategic enhancements to improve the reliability, performance, and usability of our applications.
  • Drive best practices in software development, documentation, and knowledge sharing across teams.


Requirements:
Technical Skills:

  • Expert proficiency in Node.js or ASP.NET for developing and maintaining Datafeed applications.
  • Deep understanding of application development and architecture.
  • Extensive knowledge of data processing and data manipulation techniques.
  • Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases and queries.
  • Mastery of troubleshooting and debugging techniques.


Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage engineering teams.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in software development or a related field.
  • Experience leading the development and support of Datafeed applications or similar financial systems is a plus.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Knowledge of financial markets and Datafeeds.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
