About the Role         

We are seeking a hands-on Lead Payments Analyst to lead daily payment operations across global banking channels while mentoring a small team of payment specialists.

Given the size of the team, this role combines operational execution, people leadership, and process ownership. The successful candidate will actively participate in payment processing and exception management while ensuring operational accuracy, liquidity readiness, and regulatory compliance.

Beyond day-to-day execution, the role is expected to identify operational inefficiencies, drive root-cause resolution, and implement improvements through automation, digital tools, and emerging AI capabilities.

The role works closely with Treasury, Finance, Compliance, Technology teams, and global banking partners to ensure payment operations remain reliable, controlled, and scalable as the business expands internationally

What You'll Do

Payment Operations

• Manage daily international and domestic payment processing across multiple rails including SWIFT, ACH, SEPA, NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, Direct Debits and cheque payments.
• Authorize payments, monitor bank cut-off times, and ensure timely and accurate payment execution.
• Investigate and resolve payment exceptions, rejected transactions, and operational issues.

Global Payment Management

• Support payment operations across multi-currency environments including GBP, EUR, USD and additional currencies.
• Maintain strong understanding of cross-border payment flows, settlement cycles, and banking networks.

Liquidity & Treasury Coordination

• Monitor liquidity across multiple bank accounts and currencies to support smooth payment execution.
• Coordinate with Treasury and Finance teams to ensure timely funding and visibility of payment volumes.

Bank & Stakeholder Coordination

• Act as the operational point of contact for banking partners on payment investigations and settlement queries.
•  Collaborate with Finance, Compliance, Treasury and Technology teams to ensure seamless payment operations.

Process Improvement & Automation

• Identify recurring operational issues and drive root-cause resolution.
• Implement process improvements to strengthen controls and improve efficiency.
• Leverage automation, digital tools, and AI capabilities to enhance operational monitoring and reporting.

Team Leadership

• Lead and support a small team of payment operations specialists.
•  Allocate workload, monitor operational performance, and maintain SLA adherence.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Need

• 5–8 years of experience in payments operations, banking operations, treasury operations, or financial services.
• Hands-on experience with global payment systems and multi-currency payment environments.
• Experience working with global banking partners and cross-border payments.

Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of payment rails including SWIFT, ACH, SEPA, NEFT, RTGS, IMPS and Direct Debits.
• Experience of using banking portals and operational workflow tools such as Jira or Salesforce.
• Strong data handling capability using Excel or similar tools.
• Familiarity with automation and AI tools for operational efficiency is an advantage.
