Job Description

This role requires working from our local Hyderabad office 2-3x a week. 

 

INTRODUCTION:   

The Lead Oracle Database Administrator position will be responsible for operational support for various on-premise databases running on Oracle Exadata Platforms, SQL server, MYSQL, PostgreSQL environments. The position requires Oracle database and SQL tuning expertise, through working knowledge of the Oracle Exadata and EXACC platform, experience working with Platinum support for Exadata/EXACC patching, and capacity planning, installation, integration, configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades, refreshes and  backup/recovery.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Manage Oracle EXACC and Exadata environments, both on-premises and in OCI, coordinating with Platinum support and application owners for quarterly patching.
  • Administer databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) across on-premises and cloud environments (Azure, OCI), ensuring data integrity, availability, and optimal performance.
  • Tune SQL statements and conduct performance management to ensure databases run efficiently.
  • Design, install, configure, patch, and upgrade database servers and related software across environments.
  • Establish and maintain recovery and backup policies, including periodic disaster recovery testing.
  • Implement and manage database security, creating and maintaining users, roles, and privileges.
  • Monitor and maintain databases for performance, security, and capacity planning, optimizing resources and database performance.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to database features, products, and configurations.
  • Ensure compliance with database licensing and regulatory requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
  • Maintain documentation and standards for database management procedures, ensuring compliance and operational consistency.
  • Support business needs during US Central Standard Time (CST) working hours or a portion thereof.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in IT and Database Administration with a proven track record of career growth.
  • Extensive experience in tuning SQL statements and managing Oracle EXACC/Exadata environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle database products, including Real Application Clusters (RAC), Active Data Guard, and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
  • Experience managing Exadata X8-M (or higher) using Oracle 12c or higher with RAC.
  • Proficiency in database recovery, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
  • Experience with Oracle Golden Gate, managing data warehouses on Exadata, and Oracle environments in VMware clusters running RAC.
  • Proven ability to implement IT infrastructure projects on time and within budget.
  • In-depth understanding of ITIL/ITSM principles for managing operational service delivery.
  • Experience with database security, compliance reporting for SOX, and Database Access Management (DAM) products.
  • Strong knowledge of backup and recovery solutions using Veritas NetBackup.
  • Automation skills to streamline database tasks and processes.
  • Good knowledge of DNS, DHCP, NFS, TCP/IP networking services.
  • Strong understanding of disaster recovery solutions and testing procedures.
  • All applicants must be able to work from our Hyderabad office 2-3x a week

  • Strong knowledge management, process management, and documentation skills, including creating architecture diagrams.
  • Excellent time management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and production incidents simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated and quick to learn, with a desire to continually improve processes and systems.
