Job Description
Director – E-Commerce Strategy & New Business
Experience: 7 to 10 Years
General Description
As Director – E-Commerce Strategy & New Business, you will own the growth charter for e-commerce new business and strategic expansion. The role requires strong hands on expertise across marketplace and quick commerce platforms, combined with the ability to build winning strategies, lead client conversations, and close business.
You will be responsible for qualifying inbound leads, identifying growth opportunities through deep account and category understanding, developing end to end e-commerce strategies, and converting opportunities into long term partnerships. Post conversion, you will ensure seamless onboarding through close collaboration with legal, commercial, and delivery teams. You will also play a leadership role in stabilizing high priority or underperforming businesses and driving them back to growth.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Leadership & Conversion
- Own all inbound e-commerce leads from initial qualification to final conversion.
- Evaluate business potential through category assessment, platform maturity, and competitive benchmarking.
- Build comprehensive e-commerce strategies covering media, non media, fulfillment, content, and measurement.
- Lead senior client presentations and confidently close opportunities aligned with client expectations.
Strategic Partnerships & Market Intelligence
- Work closely with platform partners including Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart, and BigBasket.
- Capture partner led intelligence, category trends, beta opportunities, and platform innovations.
- Translate partner insights into sharp strategic narratives for pitches and client growth plans.
Hands On Execution & Growth Identification
- Maintain strong hands on experience in campaign execution and management across marketplaces and quick commerce.
- Identify growth levers across CPAS, PPA Ads, search, display, and discovery formats.
- Review live campaigns to identify scaling opportunities, efficiency improvements, and incrementality drivers.
- Guide teams on advanced bidding, budget allocation, and full funnel activation strategies.
Client Onboarding & Internal Collaboration
- Partner closely with legal, finance, and commercial teams to enable smooth onboarding post conversion.
- Ensure structured and clear handover to business delivery teams with no dilution of client expectations.
- Act as senior escalation support during early stages of engagement.
Business Planning & Leadership
- Own annual operating plans for existing e-commerce businesses with focus on growth and profitability.
- Step in to support high pressure or underperforming businesses and bring them back to stability.
- Bring best in class e-commerce practices and thought leadership into the organization.
Platform & Capability Expertise
- Marketplaces: Amazon Ads, Flipkart Ads, Myntra.
- Quick Commerce: Blinkit, Zepto, Instamart, BigBasket.
- Strong expertise in CPAS and PPA Ads across platforms.
- Deep understanding of e-commerce media and non media levers including fulfillment models, SEO, A+ content, conversion optimization, and measurement.
