🚦 Reality Check — is this you?

Do you love turning vague ideas into clean, intuitive screens?

Do you ask questions like “What’s the user actually trying to do here?”

Do you enjoy polishing the little details—spacing, alignment, flow—until things feel right?

Are you curious about how real products get built and want to work closely with engineers?

If you’re nodding along, keep reading.

💡 Summary

Commutatus is a digital product studio trusted by startups, corporates, and social organisations worldwide. We build platforms with speed, structure, and strategy. We work with diverse organisations, including  AIESEC, Rajasthan Royals, Gehna India, Toyota Connected India, Hispanic Star by We Are All Human, Tech to the Rescue and others.

We’re looking for a Junior UI/UX Designer who loves understanding how users think, can turn ideas into thoughtful designs, and comfortably adapts to different workflows depending on the project.

If you're early in your design journey and want real mentorship and real product experience, this is the perfect place to grow.

📌 What’s expected of youAt a product level:
  • Research and stay updated with well-built, real-world digital products
  • Understand requirements and turn them into simple, clean user flows
  • Use and contribute to existing design systems
  • Plan and design for responsive behaviour across devices and breakpoints
  • Think through edge cases and empty states — not just the “happy path”
  • Provide assets, annotations, and logical specs for developers
At a collaboration level:
  • Join client and internal calls, take notes, and ask clarifying questions
  • Collaborate with designers and PMs to stay aligned on goals, decisions, and execution.
  • Coordinate with engineers to ensure designs are feasible and aligned
  • Participate in design reviews, usability discussions, and iterations
  • Be accountable — follow through on commitments and communicate proactively
  • Be a curious learner who asks why, explores options, and continuously improves
  • Be open to feedback and comfortable sharing your work early
At a craft level:
  • Keep your tools up to date and follow best practices to maintain clean, structured files
  • Maintain Figma hygiene — tidy pages, clear naming, organised components, and reusable patterns
  • Share learnings and insights with the team
🧠 Skills we’re looking for
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Strong visual sense — layout, typography, colours, spacing
  • Ability to break down vague problems into clear flows
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn from senior designers
  • Experience with Figma (auto layout, variants, prototyping)
  • Basic understanding of UX principles and interaction patterns

Bonus points:

  • Experience creating simple animations or micro-interactions
  • Experience working with no-code tools like Webflow, Framer, or Squarespace
  • Ability to leverage AI tools effectively within the design process
❤️ Why you’ll enjoy working here
  • Remote-first and trust-based
  • Collaborative teams
  • Learning-focused environment
  • A front-row seat to product building across multiple industries
  • Room to grow
  • Supportive, friendly team that values clarity and craft
✅ Requirements
  • 0–2 years of UI/UX design experience
  • A portfolio (even student or self-initiated work) that shows clear thinking
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, structured environment
  • Willingness to take ownership, ask questions, and iterate quickly
❓ Questionnaire
  • Do you have experience working with no-code tools? If yes, please share a link to a project you've built.
  • Do you have experience with design systems? If yes, please describe your involvement and where you’ve implemented them.
  • Have you measured the impact of your design work before? If yes, how did you measure it and how did you use the insights?
  • Please share a link to your portfolio.
