Job Description
The Private Bank Business Control Partner team works in partnership with the business, as the first line of defense against operational risks that have the potential to impact the Bank. The key responsibilities of the team include: ensuring that the line of business has a sustainable and disciplined end-to-end control environment; partnering with the Business to ensure control issues are remediated in a timely and sustainable manner; identifying and escalating control issues with a sense of urgency; and coordination of control effectiveness assessments. The team works in collaboration with all other control functions - Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit.
Job Summary:
As an IPO Control Partner- Associate within the Private Bank Business Control Partner team, you will be working in partnership with the business as the first line of defense against operational risks that could impact the Bank. Your role will be crucial in ensuring a sustainable and disciplined end-to-end control environment. You will be responsible for identifying and escalating control issues with a sense of urgency, coordinating control effectiveness assessments, and working collaboratively with all other control functions - Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit. This role provides an opportunity to apply your understanding of Operational Risk Management and experience in control design and testing, project management, and issue management.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the organization's core business processes and operational risks. Strengthen the control environment by identifying major gaps and weaknesses and determining their root cause.
  • Perform upstream and downstream mapping to identify interconnections with controls beyond the immediate scope. Analyze the upstream and downstream risk profiles to effectively influence and enhance the risk profile of the in-focus controls.
  • Map all the core controls processes along with sub task to Middle Office operating standards.
  • Ensure that remediating actions are appropriately and sustainably implemented. Follow up with the business/tech to make sure for all agreed control gaps there is plan and timeline in place.
  • Ensure that controls are properly designed, operating effectively, and essential to a proactive risk and control culture that leverages proven evaluation strategies and sound change management protocols.
  • Work with OCM partners to manage Internal Audit, Compliance, and external regulatory exams. Facilitate global consistency and collaboration in risk and control coverage with controls managers in other regions and functions.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with 2nd, 3rd lines of defense and control management peers across the globe region on specific projects and initiatives.
  • Additionally, in partnership with OCM partners clearly define both the issue and remediation plan with achievable target dates, tracking of progress against deliverables, challenge of mitigating actions and validation of action plan and issue completion.
  • Assist with development of CORE documentation through participation in end-to-end process walkthroughs and deep dives with assigned business units.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 7 to 10+ years of experience in financial services industry with background in controls, audit, quality assurance, operational risk management, or compliance preferred; or equivalent subject matter expertise in a relevant business-related function/operation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) required and data analytics preferred using Excel, Access

  • Decision Making/Judgement - moderate level of independent decision-making using sound judgement.
