Grab's Data Engineers work on one of Southeast Asia's largest data lakes, promoting growth. Our mission is "Data made Easy," providing a reliable, cost-effective platform for internal data operations and democratizing data across the company.
Get to Know the Role
You will support the mission of the team by maintaining and extending the platform capabilities through implementation of new features. You will support platform users.
This is a paid internship role and is based onsite in Petaling Jaya. You will report to the Engineering Manager.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- You will maintain and extend the Python/Go backend for Grab's Airflow and Spark platform.
- You will modify and extend Python/Scala Spark applications and Airflow pipelines for better performance, reliability, and cost.
- You will design and implement architectural improvements for new use cases or efficiency.
- You will follow testing and SRE best practices to ensure system stability.
What Essential Skills You Will Need
- Commit to a full-time internship (40 hours per week) in 6 months and work onsite at Grab office(s) in Malaysia.
- Undergraduate in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields with proficiency in Python, Go, or Scala.
- Familiarity with Airflow, Spark, relational databases (preferably MySQL), Kubernetes, and backend API implementation.
- Experience with AWS services (S3, EKS, IAM) and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
- Proficiency in CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)
