Job description
Reporting to the Head of Management Reporting, as Group Consolidation Accountant you will be responsible for the monthly consolidation of the Genius Sports group of companies. The consolidation is performed entirely within Workday Financials and you will be responsible for completing this in accordance with the monthly timeline. Intercompany relationships exist between group entities and ensuring completion of the month end close with no intercompany mismatches is a priority. Genius Sports is listed on the NYSE and is therefore audited quarterly and you will therefore have an important role to play in ensuring a clean audit each quarter.
Specific SOX controls relating to the month end close sit with the Group Consolidation Accountant and these needs to be completed in a manner ensuring no deficiencies. The group has a strong continuous improvement ethos and a contribution to progress and driving improvement is an essential part of the role.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Timely completion of the monthly group consolidation and associated SOX controls.
Month End Close
- Responsible for the monthly consolidation ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
- Ownership and reconciliation of all consolidation book entries and GL’s.
- Ensuring resolution of intercompany mismatches prior to performing the consolidation.
- Completion of group level analytics each quarter.
- Work closely with technical accounting teams when required to maintain consistency in application of group accounting policies across the group.
- Detailed KPI reporting via the use of Dashboards
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline the monthly consolidation, reducing manual effort and increasing efficiency. Leveraging automation tools and technology to improve the accuracy and timeliness of the month end close.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Build strong relationships with colleagues across Finance to ensure effective working and completion of task on time.
- Collaborate with finance system teams to improve financial systems and data integrity for the monthly consolidation.
Risk & Audit Management
- Maintain strong financial controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and audit standards.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation, reconciliations, and revenue-related analysis.
- Ensure all SOX and other relevant compliance controls are adhered to within Group Finance.
Required Skills & Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA) with 2/3 years in industry in a consolidation role.
- Strong knowledge of intercompany accounting
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial systems (e.g., Workday Financials).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proven technical ability with a high level of attention to detail.
- Effective communicator, with a collaborative approach to cross-departmental projects.
- An ethos of continuous improvement of systems, processes and ways of working.
- Experience in a US listed environment is useful with a working knowledge of SOX controls.
