Apprenticeship is a 12-month program that will provide a comprehensive learning experience, blending theoretical knowledge with on-the-job training. Job OverviewAs an Apprentice – Data Operations, you will support the Data Operations team in managing, validating, and maintaining critical financial and reference data used across business operations. You will work closely with internal teams, external data providers, and technology partners to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable delivery of data.
The role involves supporting daily operational activities, monitoring data feeds, performing data quality checks, resolving data issues, maintaining documentation, and contributing to process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and an interest in financial markets, data management, and operational processes.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport day-to-day data operations activities, including data collection, validation, reconciliation, and distribution.
Manage and monitor inbound and outbound data feeds from internal systems and external data providers.
Perform data quality checks to identify inconsistencies, missing information, and data integrity issues.
Support the maintenance of reference data including security, product, index, fund, and account-level information.
Assist with investigation and resolution of data exceptions and operational issues within defined timelines.
Execute data research and analysis to support business requirements and operational controls.
Maintain accurate documentation of processes, workflows, controls, and operational procedures.
Support reporting activities by preparing, validating, and delivering operational data reports.
Collaborate with technology teams and stakeholders to support system enhancements, data migrations, and process improvements.
Assist in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and data quality.
Ensure compliance with data governance standards and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Understanding of financial markets, securities, asset classes, and investment data is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
Good understanding of databases, data structures, flat files, and data processing concepts.
Working knowledge of SQL for querying and analyzing data.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis functions.
Basic understanding of ETL processes and data workflows.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Experience or exposure to financial data platforms such as Bloomberg, Markit EDM, RIMES, Morningstar, or similar systems.
Knowledge of Python, VBA, or other scripting languages for data analysis and automation.
Experience with data management, reporting, reconciliation, or operational support activities.
