Context/Scope:
The Financial Control function takes ownership for the classification, consolidation and interpretation of financial data, the coordination and management of financial reporting (including the provision of insight, analysis and the accurate and timely delivery of end market budgets, management accounts and financial accounts) and the monitoring of financial risks.
The Senior FP&A Analyst role will be a key business
partner to one or more teams in NAM and the first point of contact for issues in those teams, as well as supporting the wider controlling process agenda.
The role includes working with the market to review actual spend and update spend forecasts (O&R) on a monthly basis. In addition, the Senior Analyst will:
- Provide guidance on accounting requirements;
- Drive operational improvements and efficiencies;
- Promote and ensure a sound controls & compliance environment, both in the market and in the Financial Control team.
- The role reports to the A&P Manager.
Dimensions:
- Manages in-market collaborators from several functions, including Senior market leadership
- Closely supports the role’s line manager and finance leadership and liaises with other internal & external collaborators
- Leads monthly meetings with the Budget Owners
- Contributes to ad-hoc issue resolution
Market/Role Complexity
The market is sophisticated, comprising of four main business divisions and a corporate center.
The role requires business partnering capabilities.
The Senior FP&A Analyst will work with senior Finance members in the market and external vendors. The role will also work closely with other Shared Services teams, the market’s Financial Systems team and other members of the Financial Controller’s team.
Purpose of Role
The FP&A Junior Manager is responsible for supporting in market
spend owners to effectively handle their budgets and for ensuring that spend is accurately reflected in Diageo’s accounts.
Responsibilities include:
- Independently managing collaborators, both in the market and in the Shared Services Center in Bangalore/Budapest;
- Leading smooth and accurate month end closing, including accrual calculation, journal entry preparation
- Supporting planning and O&R forecasting;
- Analyzing spend (actuals vs plan), identifying and acting on insights and resolving issues;
- Managing controls and ensuring compliance, suggesting improvements and follow-up implementation
- Preparing financial reports and presentation materials and leading
- meetings with collaborators
- Working with other teams to ensure the right budget management
- systems support is in place and working effectively
- Proactively identifying, designing, and implementing process
- improvements to drive standardization, simplification, and automation.
- Proactively improving processes and creating possibilities for further automatization - ‘Act like an Owner’
Qualifications and Experience Required
Qualifications
University / College degree in finance / business
Work experience
- At least 3 to 5 years working experience, ideally in a multinational
- corporate environment, with:
- Proven track record in Financial Accounting, Financial Controlling or FP&A is strongly preferred
- Previous experience in a business partnering role is preferred
- Internal / external audit experience and/or SOX is an advantage
- Experience with Shared services process activities is an advantage
Language skills
- Excellent verbal and written English and strong communication skills.
PC skills/System knowledge
- MS applications
- Relevant experience with SAP FI /CO modules
- Strong Excel knowledge
