Job Description:
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced professional to participate in accounting operations for our centralized global team in India. Based in Mumbai, this role will report directly to the Senior Accounting Manager in the Mumbai. The role will primarily support local financial compliances related to India entity through preparation for and supporting various monthly, quarterly and annual compliances spanning annual statutory and tax audits, direct and indirect taxes and other financial regulations; while also having an opportunity to participate in a multitude of global accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities
Periodic Compliances : Ensure timely and accurate monthly and quarterly compliance by preparing, reviewing, and filing all required reports and workings for GST returns (GSTR1, GSTR3B), Input tax credit reconciliations, TDS submissions and payments, including accurate withholding tax deduction rates and quarterly TDS returns, Monthly Softex reporting, Periodic advance tax calculations and submissions
Support annual local audits, including Statutory Audit, Tax Audit, Transfer Pricing Audit, and GST annual returns (GSTR 9 / 9C), by preparing various details as prescribed by authorities (e.g., 3CA / 3CD).
Support the GST refund application process, ensuring correct documentation and compliance.
Preparation of financial statements as per local GAAP, including translating system based financials to local GAAP financials using excel and maintaining sustainable, future referenceable local GAAP financials. Activties would typically include deriving fiscal year (April–March) financials from US GAAP-based systems, reconciling opening trial balances for historical GAAP adjustments, incorporating current year adjustments, and compiling data in line with local presentation standards and formats, preparation of notes to accounts.
Work closely with the Company Secretarial team, providing required financial data for secretarial and other regulatory filings.
Act as the first point of coordination with auditors, providing information, clarifications, and addressing queries effectively.
Proactively participate and support the organization in the event of tax scrutiny notices, department GST audits and/ or potential tax disallowances. Compile relevant information and supporting responses for notices and litigations as the need arises.
Coordinate with various finance and non-finance teams to address India-level tax implications and support the resolution of tax queries related to unique transactions.
Participate in managing month-end close processes such as review of journal entries, reconciliations, consolidation, variance analysis and financial statement and audit support performed by local and regional personnel.
Skills & Experience Required
Practical experience in preparing statutory and custom formats required by big 4 auditors / large audit firms and liasing with auditors and tax advisors or relevant consulting experience within the audit / advisory firms.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, direct and indirect tax laws, and experience supporting audits.
Solid accounting fundamentals and logical approach to problem-solving.
Understanding of accounting controls and compliance frameworks.
Excellent hands-on excel skills
Acute sense of ownership, strong team player and proactive communications
Qualifications
CA (Chartered Accountant) with 2–5 years of comprehensive relevant experience.
Inter CA (semi-qualified) with 4–6 years of relevant experience.
