About Darkroom
Darkroom is a technology-driven growth marketing firm focused on growth-stage consumer companies. We were founded in 2017 out of a conviction that the iconic ad agencies of tomorrow would look very different. Darkroom is a human services firm built on a universal AI commerce layer called Matter. Our model deploys a unique blend of senior, human resources enriched by an agentic technology stack that enhances output, efficiency, and revenue generation for our clients.
Our team has been responsible for billions of dollars in trackable revenue across the various e-commerce marketplace, direct-to-consumer, and social commerce programs under management. Using research aggregated across these engagements, we accelerate results for our portfolio by developing high-impact digital strategies that unlock gateways to revenue growth, transform marketing operations, and prioritize profitability.
What started as a boutique design agency evolved into one of the fastest-growing private companies in America (Inc. 5000), one of the most successful results-driven performance media agencies of the 2020s (Varos), and esteemed recognition by Forbes 30 Under 30 for our founders’ contribution in Marketing & Advertising (Forbes).
About the Role
We’re hiring a Financial Data Analyst to own the financial engine behind our internal planning system (“Flight Plan”) and our client economics at scale. This role sits at the center of FP&A, data engineering, and media performance—building and maintaining the systems, logic, and reporting that turn spend into forecasts, and forecasts into decisions. You will manage client P&Ls, revenue projections, and capacity planning across a growing portfolio. This is not a reporting role. You will design and maintain the financial and analytical infrastructure leadership and client teams rely on to allocate budget, price work, and scale accounts profitably.
What You’ll Do
Own Flight Plan Operations at Scale
Run, maintain, and continuously improve Flight Plan workflows across clients (inputs, assumptions, validation, outputs).
Build guardrails to ensure plans are accurate, consistent, and resilient as volume and complexity grow.
Build and Maintain Client P&Ls
Own client-level P&Ls including revenue, COGS, delivery costs, gross margin, and contribution.
Create standardized views that roll up by client, segment, pod, channel, or product line.
Forecast Revenue and Profitability
Develop revenue and margin forecasts tied to media plans, pacing, retention, fees, and performance assumptions.
Own forecast accuracy by tracking error, diagnosing drivers, and iterating the underlying logic.
Engineer the Underlying Data Foundation
Write production-quality SQL to model data cleanly, including transformations, definitions, and QA checks.Use Python to automate workflows, validate inputs, and generate repeatable outputs.Build scalable Google Sheets systems that are front-end friendly without being fragile.
Leverage Claude Code and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate model development, automation, testing, and documentation while maintaining high standards of accuracy and auditability.
Translate Marketing and Media into Financial Truth
Connect performance metrics (spend, CAC, MER, ROAS, contribution margin, LTV assumptions) to client economics.
Help teams understand what’s happening, why it’s happening, and what actions to take next.
Create Executive-Ready Decision Tooling
Ship dashboards, scenario models, and summaries leadership can use immediately.
Establish and maintain single-source-of-truth definitions for revenue, margin, and performance metrics.
Fluent in English
You operate at a wizard-level in Google Sheets, SQL, and Python—you build systems people depend on.
You have hands-on experience owning P&Ls, forecasting, and building FP&A systems that survive messy real-world data.
You understand marketing economics: fees, media spend, pacing, channel mix, and measurement noise.
You’ve built scalable, production-grade workflows with validation, error handling, documentation, and repeatability.
You are proficient with Claude Code or similar AI coding tools and use them effectively to move faster without sacrificing rigor.
You are allergic to ambiguity and weak definitions and push for clean inputs and consistent logic.
You communicate with precision and can explain complex financial systems to operators and executives.
You prefer ownership over supervision and shipping over slide decks.
