We, at Spotify are looking to hire an ‘Editor Music and Culture, Punjabi’ who is dedicated and passionate about Punjabi music, both new as well as catalog music. In this role you will be part of the Music team, and work closely with the ‘Head of Editorial’ of India. You will handle music curation for Punjabi language, and will be responsible for identifying and curating music for all moods, music genres, eras, moments, and multifaceted user interests.
As a music editor, you will be encouraged to make data informed decisions, and bring deep cultural and music insights to build highly engaging music experiences for listeners!
What you will do
- Own the music curation and overall strategy for a language, and establish leadership for Spotify
- Be the language and culture expert, and proactively identify music trends and opportunities for Spotify
- Study data and present reasons to the Music team, to build Spotify’s path for Punjabi language, not only in India, but globally as well
- Stay informed on the latest developments in the music industry, including emerging artists, genres and trends
- Partner with cross functional teams, to ensure editorial content aligns with broader business objectives
- Work to build the Punjabi ecosystem across genres and various artist tiers to contribute to the overall Punjabi strategy and vision for Spotify’s editorial content, helping to drive innovation and excellence
- Curate and maintain playlists for various moods, moments and occasions
- Work on organisational wide projects, by working closely with the Global Editorial Teams and other cross-functional teams
- Implement the best practices from across the company, to build robust process and ensure high efficiency in execution
Who you are
- Be deeply knowledgeable about Punjabi music and artists - both new, and catalog music
- You have experience in the music industry, working with a broad range of music content. Experience in programming for music services is preferred
- Good presentation skills, strong data analysis skills, proficient in using data analytical tools to track and analyze music trends, playlist performance and audience engagement
- Having formal training or formal knowledge in music theory will be an advantage.
- You are digitally savvy and comfortable with digital technology
- You are numerate and adept at analyzing and interpreting data and using it to set goals
- You are highly organized, detail oriented, with strong time management skills
- You have good communication skills - spoken and written, in English and in Punjabi
- You are comfortable with working in a fast changing environment and matrix reporting structures. Be comfortable with ambiguity and be self driven
- You are a great teammate, have a strong work ethic, and a sense of humor
