The Director of Public Relations will lead the PR strategy for the sports division, manage external communications, drive media visibility, and oversee crisis management while collaborating with senior leadership and various stakeholders.
Job Overview:
The incumbent will lead the PR strategy, reputation management, and external communication efforts for the sports division. This role is responsible for shaping the brand narrative, driving media visibility, managing crises, and positioning athletes, teams, events, and the organization as leaders in the sporting ecosystem. The incumbent will work closely with senior leadership, Central Corporate Communications & PR, marketing, digital, legal, and key stakeholders to ensure consistent, impactful, and positive public engagement.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead the overall PR and communications strategy for the sports vertical across national and regional markets, ensuring consistent and impactful brand visibility.
- Shape compelling storylines that elevate the organization’s brand, teams, athletes, events, and strategic initiatives.
- Provide strategic PR counsel to senior leadership on media relations, executive communication, and reputation management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier sports, business, lifestyle, and digital media to drive positive coverage.
- Serve as spokesperson when required and oversee preparation of leaders, athletes, and coaches for media interactions, interviews, and press events.
- Design and lead the crisis communications framework, including risk monitoring, messaging development, and real-time issue management.
- Oversee the development of press releases, speeches, op-eds, and key messaging in close collaboration with the Central Corporate Communications & PR team, ensuring alignment with brand values, tone, and strategic priorities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the PR team, while managing external agencies, partners, and media-monitoring vendors.
- Monitor media trends and performance, delivering analytics, dashboards, and insights to enhance PR effectiveness and inform future strategies.

Qualification & Experience:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related fields.
- 10–15+ years of PR/Communications experience, ideally within sports, entertainment, media, or consumer-facing industries.
- Strong relationships with national sports and business media.
- Proven ability in crisis management and executive communication.
