The Role You’ll Play:
You will lead multiple squads focused on international expansion, reliability and modernization, merchant experience, embedded finance, and platform orchestration. This is a highly visible role requiring both technical depth in payments/fintech and exceptional leadership skills to drive execution across distributed teams in the US and India.
What You'll Do
Strategic Leadership, Cross-Pillar Collaboration & Ownership
- Drive the Payments roadmap: Partner with Pillar co-leads, Product, and cross-functional stakeholders to define and execute the multi-year Payments strategy, balancing international expansion, reliability improvements, merchant experience, and platform modernization
- Own key business outcomes: Deliver on critical metrics including payments attach rate, success rate, merchant experience score, international GMV growth, and ARPS lift through embedded finance products
- Build and lead high-performing teams: Manage 5-7 Engineering Managers and 60-80+ engineers across payment squads
- Ensure technical excellence: Champion software development best practices, establish squad-level metrics for quality and velocity, drive architectural decisions for scale and reliability, and maintain disciplined engineering processes
- Drive execution at scale: Balance parallel workstreams across payment methods expansion, reliability/modernization and embedded finance validation—ensuring sequencing clarity and delivery confidence
- Foster innovation and modernization: Lead technical modernization efforts including migration from legacy ASP to .NET 8, PSP orchestration layer buildout, and architectural improvements to improve stability
What You'll Bring
Required Experience
- 10+ years in software engineering with at least 5+ years leading engineering teams (ideally 50+ engineers), including multiple Engineering Managers
- Deep payments/fintech expertise: Direct experience building and scaling payments systems, PSP integrations, payment orchestration, compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS), or embedded finance products
- Proven delivery at scale: Track record of delivering complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives across distributed teams, balancing innovation with operational stability
- Global/distributed team leadership: Experience managing engineering teams across time zones (US + India or similar), building strong culture and collaboration across geographies
- Technical depth: Hands-on background as a senior engineer or architect; able to dive into system design, code reviews, and technical decision-making when needed
Strong understanding of payments domain: card networks, payment gateways, tokenization, settlement/reconciliation, chargebacks, fraud/risk, merchant onboarding (KYC/KYB)
Experience with modern cloud architecture (AWS/Azure/GCP), microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, and data platforms
Familiarity with compliance and security requirements: PCI-DSS, SOC 2, GDPR, regional payment regulations
Experience with PSP orchestration platforms, multi-PSP strategies, or building payments products for external merchants
- Bonus: Knowledge of fintech products such as Capital/lending, payouts, treasury management, or embedded banking
- Strategic thinking: Ability to translate business goals into technical strategy, sequence work effectively, and make build vs. buy vs. partner tradeoffs
- Exceptional communication: Influence stakeholders at all levels (ELT, Board, cross-functional partners), present complex technical concepts clearly, and foster alignment across diverse teams
- Execution discipline: Drive clarity on priorities, establish accountability, unblock teams rapidly, and maintain urgency without burning out the organization
- Team development: Attract, retain, and grow engineering talent; create career pathways; champion diversity and inclusion; build psychologically safe, high-trust teams
- Collaborative leadership: Work effectively in a matrixed environment; navigate ambiguity; build consensus while maintaining strong points of view

Qualifications Summary
Required:
- Btech/Mtech in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years software engineering experience
- 5+ years leading engineering teams (50+ people), including Engineering Managers
- Deep payments/fintech domain expertise
- Track record of delivering large-scale, distributed systems
- Experience with PSP integrations, payment orchestration, or multi-PSP strategies
- Background in embedded finance products (Capital, payouts, treasury)
- Prior work in global/international payments expansion
- Experience managing teams across US + India or similar distributed model
