As a Direct Tax Analyst, you will play a vital role in ensuring Chewy's compliance with federal and state tax regulations while contributing to the financial health of the company. What you'll do:
- Process, analyze, and reconcile the federal and state tax return filings and supporting workpapers. This includes gathering and analyzing financial information to generate tax returns effectively & efficiently, as well as maintaining supporting work papers and files while providing a clear audit trail to source/support documentation.
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns, extensions, and quarterly estimated tax payments at the corporate level and for related subsidiaries.
- Assist in the overall management and preparation of the quarterly and annual tax provision.
- Assist with analysis related to return to provision adjustments.
- Assist in Federal and state tax audit defense.
- Monitor legislative changes in US tax laws that may impact the Company's tax positions, including tax accounting implications.
- Work closely with various groups within and outside of the organization (including finance, legal, external auditors, and third-party providers) with respect to wide array of tax, financing, and operational matters.
- Recommending process improvements.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Master's in taxation (MST) from an accredited college/university
- 2+ years of corporate tax experience in an accounting firm, corporation and/or law firm
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Ability to work effectively on a team
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to articulate complex information
- Self-motivated with a strong internal drive to learn and a high degree of attention to detail and the ability to deliver on deadlines.
- Proactive in solving problems and innovative in finding solutions.
Bonus:
- Tax software experience for compliance and provision, preferably OneSource and/or Corptax
- Experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, and a solid knowledge of ASC 740
- Experience with Hyperion SmartView, Oracle ERP
