Data Scientist - Innovation and Sustainability Digitalization

Job Description:

Huntsman Corporation is now looking for a dynamic individual as a Data Scientist - Innovation and Sustainability Digitalization.

You will be responsible for supporting the Huntsman Polyurethanes business with enhanced digital solutions for both Innovation and Sustainability and Product Data. You will be focused on the development of the new solutions and the ongoing maintenance of existing solutions which support decision making via robust and well-managed data sources and their subsequent visualization via modern dashboards. You will also work in close collaboration with the corporate Advanced Analytics team, and divisional Innovation, Sustainability, Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing, Commercial and S&OP teams.

This is a global function that reports through the Technology & Innovation and Sustainability function.

This position will be based in Mumbai, India.

As a Data Scientist - Innovation and Sustainability Digitalization you will: 

Working closely with the R&D and Sustainability teams to design and build new data solutions based on available IT tools in Huntsman.

To continue to upgrade and improve existing data solutions aligned with stakeholder needs

Ensuring up to date dashboard information highlighting critical areas for decision making by implementing automated refresh routines.

Provide training to functions on the use of the data management systems and the visualization dashboards.

Engage with R&D teams to continue implementing digital solutions and harvest their power to deliver increased efficiency to R&D teams.

Provide guidance and training to the Data Analyst to take over the routine maintenance and administration of the developed solutions

What skills and experiences are we looking for?

Minimum masters’s degree or equivalent based on experience

Ideal candidate would have a chemistry bachelors and a data science masters degree and 5 years plus of experience delivering data solutions in an industrial context

Exceptional analytical and numerical skills

Experienced creator of data storage, maintenance and visualizations

Team player

Critical view on data accuracy and high attention to detail

Required languages: Fluent English

Strong Data Engineering and Data Science

Good knowledge of chemistry and sustainability concepts as applicable in chemical industry

Ability to design data architectures and data integration protocols

Good understanding of data modelling concepts

Ability to extract, transform and load (data preparation)

Strong visualization capabilities for advanced analytics

Specific expertise in multiple data science tools including but not limited to:

 - Sources: SAP ERP and related platforms

 - Storage: relational databases (SAP HANA, Azure Storage Solutions, Sharepoint Lists)

 - ETL/Data preparation: Power Query (inc. M language), Azure Data Factory, Power Automate, Databricks

 - Visualization: Power BI (including DAX language), SAP Business Objects, Planning Analytics

 - Predictive/Prescriptive: Python (scikit-learn, PyTorch,...), IBM Cloud Pak for Data

 - Coding: Python, Jupyter, SQL

Ability to work across teams and organization boundaries
