Data Engineer III

In EG, our Core Services organization was built to enable the business to scale globally while supporting the needs of our rapidly growing family of brands.

We power EG’s travel revolution with a premier platform of ecommerce technologies and services operating at a global scale. We bring product, technology and operations together to accelerate innovation and enable test and learn, constantly pushing ourselves to evolve and innovate for the business.

Within the Core Services organization, CDFS Engineering team enables EG and subsidiaries to manage their Tax platforms globally while meeting statutory and financial Regulatory Compliance.

What you’ll do: 

  • Designs and implements modular and scalable software components.

  • Proposes solutions to design challenges and shares insights on improving system architecture

  • Writes and is accountable for the quality of their team's code.

  • Leads by example in adhering to best practices for collaborative code development.

  • Enables their team to deliver high-quality code and sets standards for repository maintenance and code review.

  • Conducts comprehensive testing and actively contributes to improving testing processes

  • Implements automation strategies for testing/deployment, helps team maintain high standards.

  • Optimizes existing observability solutions, and proactively identity and close gaps

  • Effectively manages shifting priorities while providing guidance to team, product, and key stakeholders

  • Use understanding of business to communicate impact to technical decisions.

  • Motivate & mentor team.

  • Documents best practices and shares knowledge internally and externally.

  • Explores emerging technologies that solves customer problems and advocates for their adoption.

  • Use market trends to influence tech decisions.

Who you are: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience 

  • Possess 5+ years of industry experience comprising of experience in managing large scale application and data pipeline operations along with software development experience in building services and applications in AWS cloud platform.

  • Familiar in building and maintaining data pipeline/data product in production environments (bug fixing, troubleshooting, monitoring, etc.) handling large volume of data.

  • Displays strength in a couple of programming languages relevant to data (e.g. Java, Scala, Python).

  • Hands on experience with native AWS services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, EMR, S3, Lambda, RDS, Route53, CloudWatch, API Gateway.

  • Have experience in building Data Pipeline using Spark, Kafka, Scala and AWS Technologies.

  • Experience in monitoring observability tools such as Data Dog, Splunk.

  • Experience in delivering automated solutions that improve platform health, security, cost-efficiency, alerting and monitoring.

  • Effectively communicate with others in a courteous, thoughtful and professional manner and demonstrate multi-tasking ability for orchestrating multiple activities at a time.

  • A collaborative spirit with the ability to work across disciplines to influence, learn, and deliver.

  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
