Credit Operations Mumbai Analytics team enables and supports the efficient and effective delivery of credit ratings/information to the market with its specialized skills and assets, consistent frameworks, and economies of scale. We collaborate with MDBRS global stakeholders to build creative, impactful solutions and offer services for the business and the market.
The Role: Morningstar DBRS's Sovereign team is looking for a motivated individual with good analytical skills and a desire to learn. This role will provide unique opportunities for learning key aspects of the credit ratings process including in-depth fundamental analysis of government finance in support of analysts based in North America & Europe. You will be responsible for supporting the global sovereign team with coverage of a broad group of sovereign ratings and other regional and local government ratings. The Analyst will be expected to acquire a broad understanding of sovereign and public finance rating methodologies and related criteria. This position is based in our Navi Mumbai office.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop an understanding of and build proficiency in credit analysis
  • Provide support to global analytical teams in monitoring news, announcements, or other material events impacting credits
  • Populate and maintain spreadsheets with economic and financial data on national, regional and local governments, in addition to non-profits and public sector enterprises
  • Support analytical research by undertaking data investigations and other basic research activities under the guidance of senior analyst
  • Assist in the preparation of rating committee materials, including ensuring that all documentation required for rating processes have been received from clients
  • Help lead analysts to adhere to rigorous regulatory requirements, including detailed record-keeping
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies and procedures


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's or Postgraduate degree in International Affairs/ Economics/ Finance/ Public Policy/ Public Administration, or another relevant discipline or any such equivalent qualification
  • Strong interest in country analysis including macroeconomics, monetary and fiscal politics and foreign policy
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in an analytical role in public policy or the financial services industry is preferred
  • Good understanding of core finance and accounting concepts
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP/ GASB and/ or IFRS/IPSAS accounting rules is strongly desired
  • Robust quantitative and analytical skills supported by strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Fluent in English, with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Highly motivated, self-starter who is keen to learn, has a positive attitude and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time and deliver results in a timely manner
  • Good inter-personal skills and ability to participate/ contribute as a team player
