Reports to: Assistant Vice President – Campaigns and Communications
Job Overview:
United Way Mumbai’s Campaigns team manages the philanthropy platform for event-based fundraising campaigns. The largest of these is the Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM), India’s biggest sporting platform for philanthropy. Since 2004, TMM has raised more than ₹543 crore for NGOs across causes, and over 300 NGOs now take part each year, alongside hundreds of companies and thousands of fundraisers and donors.
As the event’s philanthropy partner, UWM runs the philanthropy structure that connects donors to NGOs. That work covers onboarding NGOs, running the fundraising platform, managing every rupee raised through to disbursal, and reporting back to NGOs and donors.
This is a hands-on role across the full campaign cycle. You’ll work closely with NGOs and individual fundraisers, own the fund cycle, and use campaign data to improve how the platform works each year.
Job Responsibilities:
- Onboard participating NGOs for TMM and other campaigns, and curate the projects listed on our platform.
- Serve as UWM’s single point of contact for your NGO partners, handling queries, timelines, and escalations.
- Advise NGOs on growing their participation, and run capacity-building workshops.
- Support individual fundraisers through their campaigns, from setting up their pages to reaching their targets.
- Resolve fundraiser issues quickly, coordinating with NGOs, the platform team, and Finance where needed.
- Re-engage past fundraisers and encourage them to fundraise again in the next cycle.
- Track fundraiser retention and engagement, and suggest ways to improve both.
- Execute the philanthropy structure smoothly, with clear processes at every stage of the campaign.
- Communicate the philanthropy structure clearly to NGOs, fundraisers, donors, and partners.
- Recommend improvements that help participating NGOs raise more and gain visibility.
- Manage the full fund cycle for participating NGOs: raising, receiving, accounting, reconciling, disbursing, and reporting.
- Work with the Finance team to make sure every transaction is accurate, documented, and audit-ready.
- Maintain NGO, fundraiser, and donor records, track engagement, and keep campaign data accurate on Salesforce CRM.
- Analyse campaign data and use it to recommend changes to the philanthropy structure.
- Prepare reports and insights for management.
- Contribute to all Campaigns team activities, including new event collaborations.
- Research and bring in better practices to improve how the team works.
- Use AI productivity tools for drafting, summarising, and preparing data, in line with UWM’s data and AI use policies.
Profile Requisites:
- Graduate in any discipline.
- 1–3 years of work experience in any sector.
- Excellent spoken and written English, with the ability to write clear, polished emails and speak confidently with senior stakeholders.
- Outstanding communication skills: you can explain processes simply and persuade NGOs and fundraisers to commit to another cycle.
- Sharp thinking and quick learning: you pick up new systems fast, spot problems early, and solve them without waiting to be told how.
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and reconciling large datasets accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical way of working, especially with numbers and records.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple stakeholders, and keep commitments without close supervision.
- Sound judgement when handling difficult conversations with NGOs, fundraisers, donors, and partners.
- Sensitivity to the nonprofit sector and the organisations it serves.
- Experience in the development or nonprofit sector is preferred.
- Exposure to Salesforce or another CRM is preferred. (training will be provided)
- Comfort learning new technology platforms quickly is preferred.
Remuneration: Subject to relevant qualification, experience & merit; the salary range is INR 4.5 to 7 LPA. If you think you are suitable, apply now and we will reach out to you soon.
