About the Team
We are a life sciences consulting team supporting global pharmaceutical and biotech clients across medical affairs, commercial strategy and R&D advisory engagements. Our Pune based team works as a core function of our project teams, contributing directly to analysis, frameworks and recommendations that go in front of clients.
Role Overview
At the Consultant level, you will own complete workstreams within client engagements, from approach design through analysis execution to final deliverable, while working under the guidance of a Project Manager or Lead. You will take client/project background, situation, research, data, and market context and translate into structured, strategically framed outputs that are ready for client consumption, with minimal inputs from Project Managers/Leads.
At the Senior Consultant level, you will step into a near-independent project lead role for smaller engagements or serve as the primary delivery lead for larger projects, helping shape the project approach, owning the quality standards, and directly managing one or more analysts or senior analysts and their work. You will be expected to bring your own informed point of view to the project, and push the conversation from analysis to insight, while informing project/client leadership and serving as a trusted bridge between them and the consultant/analyst layer.
Roles & Responsibilities
Project Management & Execution
- Design and develop the project approach for assigned workstreams, scoping the right questions, identifying data sources and methodologies to gain the required outputs and insights.
- Drive end-to-end delivery of workstreams with minimal directional input from managers by exercising judgment, prioritization, and trade-offs when constraints arise.
- Build and manage working project plans to track key project tasks, flag risks early and ensure timely delivery.
- Own smaller workstreams end-to-end and work independently with project and client leads.
Deliverable Design & Quality
- Design end-to-end client deliverables, owning the narrative arc, slide flow, and with right level of detail, and impactful visual design.
- Write and frame recommendations and strategic considerations in precise, confident language that reflects industry fluency and moves the client toward a decision.
- Apply best practices in slide design and visual communication: data-forward layouts, clarity, logical hierarchy and consistent visual language throughout deliverables.
- Own the quality bar for all work from delivery team (junior/senior analysts and consultants), review analyst outputs critically for analytical accuracy, source integrity, logical consistency, and presentation quality.
Experience & Subject Matter Expertise
- [Commercial Only] Apply hands-on experience with commercial consulting frameworks to new product planning, portfolio strategy, launch strategy/readiness/planning, market sizing, competitive landscape analyses, and brand strategy work.
- Leverage secondary research across databases, company disclosures, clinical data, and KOL/scientific congress content to build evidence-based outputs for client engagements.
- Contribute informed medical, commercial and disease/scientific context to shape actionable insights and recommendations for pharma brand teams, medical affairs leads, and R&D decision-makers at different lifecycle stages.
- [Commercial Only] Build and own quantitative models in Excel (forecasting models, scenario analyses, market sizing, scoring/prioritization) to deliver robust data-based insights.
Team Guidance & Mentorship
- Guide and mentor analysts on projects, clarify objectives and project approach, review outputs and give direct, developmental feedback.
- Model best-practice consulting behaviors like structured thinking, proactive communication, ownership and quality for junior team members through day-to-day collaboration.
Communication and Teamwork
- Listen actively in project meetings, calls, and briefings to understand key updates and decisions, and translate accurately into actionable next steps.
- Present sections of client deliverables with confidence and clarity, handling questions from clients and internal stakeholders.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and emerging insights to project leads proactively, in the right format and cadence.
- Navigate project team dynamics fluidly coordinating with senior onshore leads on direction and priorities while simultaneously setting clear expectations and timelines for analysts/consultants, ensuring work moves forward without bottlenecks at either end.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master's (M.Pharm/M.Tech) or MBA with a pharmaceutical/healthcare focus, or an equivalent postgraduate life sciences degree preferred but not mandatory (a Bachelor’s degree is absolute minimum).
- 3–5 years of minimum consulting experience, with at least 2–3 years in life sciences or pharmaceutical consulting at a recognized firm (e.g., IQVIA, ZS, Syneos Health, ClearView, Indegene or equivalent).
- Prior exposure to commercial, medical affairs or R&D advisory projects is an advantage.
- [Commercial Only] Demonstrated experience on commercial consulting engagements (new product planning, launch strategy, portfolio analysis, competitive intelligence, brand positioning, customer targeting/segmentation, claims analytics, etc.).
- Strong working proficiency in Excel (financial/forecast modelling, data structuring, scenario analysis) and PowerPoint (narrative design, client-ready formatting, data visualization).
- Track record of independently designing and delivering structured analytical work.
- Comfortable presenting outputs to project leads, senior internal stakeholders, and, at the Senior Consultant level, directly to client teams.
- [Commercial Only/Vary by team] Familiarity with standard secondary research platforms used in pharmaceutical consulting is preferred (e.g., GlobalData, EvaluatePharma, IQVIA data products, DRG/Clarivate, ClinicalTrials.gov, payer/HTA databases).
Senior Consultant Differential
Candidates considered at the Senior Consultant level will additionally demonstrate:
- 5 years of minimum consulting experience, with at least ~3-4 years in life sciences or pharmaceutical consulting at a recognized firm
