The CMDB Manager oversees the Configuration Management Database, ensuring accuracy and compliance of configuration items, while managing processes and tools, stakeholder collaboration, and delivering insights through reporting.
About this opportunity:
The CMDB Manager is responsible for owning, maintaining, and improving the organization's Configuration Management Database. This role ensures that configuration items (CIs) are accurately captured, maintained, and governed throughout their lifecycle. The CMDB Manager works closely with Infrastructure, IT, Security, Service Lines, GSCs and all other relevant Business stakeholders to drive data quality, process maturity, compliance, and reporting, enabling effective decision-making and efficient IT service management.
Key Responsibilities• Ownership of CMDB
o Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of the CMDB, including governance, data quality, and integrity of configuration items.
o Work with SL lines and Infra teams who are responsible for the data entry.
o Define and enforce policies, procedures, and standards for configuration management.• Data Quality & Compliance
o Ensure CMDB data is accurate, complete, and aligned with ITIL/ISO standards.
o Regularly audit CI records and relationships to ensure compliance with business, technical, and security requirements.• Process & Tooling
o Maintain and optimize discovery, reconciliation, and data-integration tools (e.g., ServiceNow Discovery, SCCM, Azure, AWS integrations).
o Collaborate with Service Management and IT Operations teams to align CMDB processes with Incident, Change, and Problem Management.• Stakeholder Management
o Act as the central point of contact for CMDB matters across IT, Security, Risk, and Business stakeholders.
o Provide training and guidance to teams to ensure proper usage and updates of the CMDB.• Reporting & Insights
o Deliver regular reporting and dashboards on CI coverage, data quality, and compliance metrics.
o Support audits, risk assessments, and governance reviews with accurate configuration data.
Qualifications & Experience• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).• 5+ years of experience in IT Service Management, with at least 2+ years in Configuration/Asset Management.• Strong knowledge of ITIL processes (certification preferred).• Hands-on experience with Atlassian Assets CMDB toolpreferred or equivilent CMDB knowledge (e.g., ServiceNow CMDB, BMC Atrium, Flexera, or similar).• Experience with IT discovery tools and integrations (SCCM, JAMF, AWS, Azure, VMware, etc.).• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data governance skills.• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with proven experience in driving a Configuration Management agenda across the business.
