Job Title: Chapter Lead (15+ years)
Location: Bangalore
Business & Team: Chief Technology Office (CTO) / Database Crew
Impact & Contribution:
Database Development Team is responsible for the design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of Enterprise systems heavily coded on database side (which include CommSee, CommBiz, Mobile Apps and Netbank). These systems rely on Oracle RDBMS and a team of development specialists and PL/SQL developers has been established to design and implement functional and non-functional enhancements and additions to these databases.
Roles & Responsibilites:
As a Chapter Lead, you will be leading team of Engineers under Database Development Squad with goal setting, performance, career development and engagement. Own complete delivery, provide technical consulting and advice to projects to ensure alignment with other Infrastructure Teams within the Crew. Support the embedding of a positive engineering culture. Ensure adherence to standards and technical quality. Guide complex technical problem solving.
- Build, lead and inspire an engaged team of Database Engineers by attracting, hiring and retaining industry-best talent with positive engagement.
- Empower team to manage their work appropriately, respond to queries, address impediments and problem solve technical issues.
- Provide effective coaching to Engineers and establish mechanisms for peer-to-peer learning and mentoring.
- Understand how to foster and lead diverse teams and demonstrate commitment to doing so.
- Role model a culture of engineering culture, empowerment, autonomy, psychological safety and constructive challenge.
- Understand unique skill sets of team members, providing personalised feedback and guidance.
- Communicate to senior management and key stakeholders to ensure clear path to execution.
- Communicate Engineering Practice standards and consistent ways of working across the domain and CBA that align to industry standards.
- Allocate time for code reviews, refactoring and tech debt elimination over feature delivery.
Essential Tech Skills:
- Advanced PL/SQL development skills.
- Proven track record as an Oracle Database Development
- Advanced tuning skills in a high volume Enterprise grade Oracle enterprise environments.
- Have experience in developing in an agile manner and proficient at working with GitHub, Github Actions and common CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of Database architecture and DevOps experience.
- Can effectively communicate engineering practice standards and consistent ways of working across squads and CBA that align to global best practice.
- Can drive operational excellence and support teams in charge of mission-critical production services with diverse stakeholders and complex dependencies.
- Advocate for new technology approaches, with the experience to understand the architectural integration of new software solutions.
- Have Influential and confident stakeholder management skills, this role will see you working across risk, product, digital, technology and compliance
- Is curious, life-long learner and have a growth mindset to drive continuous improvements.
- Create a culture focused on accelerating the adoption of new and emerging technologies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology.
