As Category Lead, you will support the establishment of a new supply base in India for the most strategic component parts that will be supplied into Aggreko’s forthcoming manufacturing facility and the Global Procurement Hub.

Role Overview: The role will drive the assessment, negotiation, onboarding and the strategic management of key suppliers for Aggreko’s manufacturing facility and global procurement hub. You will be commercially astute and have experience of strategic sourcing, contracting and performance management. The role would work closely alongside both the pre-existing strategic, global Directs team and the newly formed Indian Procurement team.
What you’ll do:
Identify, assess, and negotiate with strategic in‑country suppliers to build a robust local supply base supporting India‑based manufacturing and service operations for core product parts.
Establish, negotiate, and manage contractual frameworks—including supply agreements and joint development agreements—to secure quality, cost‑effective, and reliable supply.
Develop, implement, and communicate category strategies for assigned sub‑categories, ensuring alignment with broader procurement and business objectives.
Benchmark suppliers regularly to maintain competitiveness and ensure all suppliers undergo Aggreko’s formal onboarding and supplier performance management processes.
Manage ongoing supplier relationships, monitor performance, and mitigate supply risks by developing alternative sources and maintaining leverage over underperforming suppliers.
Ensure compliance with customs regulations, GST frameworks, and import/export documentation requirements, including DGFT norms.
Drive ethical sourcing practices in line with Aggreko’s ESG standards and Supplier Code of Conduct.
Support the continuous development of local suppliers to meet Aggreko’s quality, cost, compliance, and performance standards.
You’ll have the following skills and experience:
Over 5 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management, with a proven ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment while maintaining a collaborative and solutions‑focused mindset.
Strong commercial acumen with deep knowledge of the Indian supply base for electrical and mechanical components, enabling effective supplier evaluation, negotiation, and cost optimisation.
Global stakeholder management capability, with the ability to work seamlessly with teams across Aggreko’s international footprint, demonstrating cultural awareness, adaptability, and strong relationship‑building skills.
Clear, authentic, and inclusive communication style, with the ability to navigate a rapidly evolving business landscape while ensuring consistent performance against defined KPIs such as supplier onboarding, cost variance, and contractual compliance.
Educational background in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline; an MBA or postgraduate qualification is preferred.
