About Darkroom

Darkroom is a technology-driven growth marketing firm focused on growth-stage consumer companies. We were founded in 2017 out of a conviction that the iconic ad agencies of tomorrow would look very different. Darkroom is a human services firm built on a universal AI commerce layer called Matter. Our model deploys a unique blend of senior human resources enriched by an agentic technology stack that enhances output, efficiency, and revenue generation for our clients.

Our team has been responsible for billions of dollars in trackable revenue across e-commerce marketplaces, direct-to-consumer, and social commerce programs. Using insights aggregated across these engagements, we accelerate results for our portfolio by developing high-impact digital strategies that unlock revenue growth, transform marketing operations, and prioritize profitability.

What started as a boutique design agency has evolved into one of the fastest-growing private companies in America (Inc. 5000), one of the most successful results-driven performance media agencies of the 2020s (Varos), and has earned Forbes 30 Under 30 recognition for our founders’ contributions to Marketing & Advertising.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Cash Flow Analyst to own the operational heartbeat of our financial engine. This role is responsible for managing cash flow across the business, ensuring accurate monthly closes, maintaining clean books, and working directly with clients to align accounting treatment with real-world operations.

This is a hands-on, execution-driven role at the intersection of accounting operations, client communication, and cash management. You will be accountable for receivables, payables, collections, and month-end close accuracy—ensuring leadership always has a clear and trustworthy view of the company’s financial position.

  • Manage the full cash flow lifecycle, including accounts receivable and accounts payable.

  • Monitor cash inflows and outflows to ensure liquidity, predictability, and accuracy.

  • Identify and proactively flag cash flow risks or timing mismatches.

Close the Books Monthly
  • Reconcile and close the books at the end of each month, including:

    • Invoicing

    • Accruals vs. cash timing

Manage Client Invoicing and Collections
  • Own client invoicing workflows from issuance through payment.

  • Actively manage collections, including follow-up emails and direct client communication.

  • Maintain clear aging schedules and ensure timely resolution of overdue balances.

Work Directly with Clients on Accounting Treatment
  • Engage face-to-face with U.S.-based clients to evaluate accounting treatment as it relates to their operations.

  • Translate operational realities into accurate accounting outcomes.

  • Act as a trusted financial point of contact for billing and payment-related matters.

Maintain Financial Systems Integrity
  • Own day-to-day operations in QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Build and maintain supporting schedules in Excel and Google Sheets.

  • Ensure alignment between operational activity, invoicing, and financial reporting.

Support Leadership with Financial Clarity
  • Provide clear visibility into cash position, collections status, and upcoming obligations.

  • Support forecasting and planning efforts with accurate, real-time cash data.

You should apply if this sounds like you:
  • Fluent in English.

  • Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and Google Sheets.

  • Proven experience reconciling and closing books monthly, including invoicing and accruals vs. cash.

  • Comfortable working directly with U.S. clients, including live discussions around accounting treatment.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and relentless about accuracy.

  • Clear, professional communicator—especially in written client follow-ups.

  • You value accountability, consistency, and operational excellence.

Working at Darkroom

Darkroom is not a typical agency. We are looking for A players who want to build something great. There is no room for mediocrity—candidates who are not operating at a high level do not last. We move fast, think deeply, and expect every team member to bring rigor and ownership to everything they touch.

We believe in autonomy with accountability, truth over comfort, and outcomes over optics. If you want to work alongside some of the sharpest operators in the industry and take real ownership, you’ll thrive here.

  • Location, location, (or no) location: Remote-first culture with a strong community base. While many roles remain fully remote, employees hired to work from our New York or Lisbon HQs (opening early 2026) are expected to adopt a hybrid working model, including weekly in-office appearances. Hub locations also include the Bay Area, Philadelphia, São Paulo, and Barcelona.

  • Parental Leave: Flexible parental leave benefits to support new parents during this important transition.

  • Endless opportunities for growth: Our interdisciplinary approach gives Darkroomers exposure well beyond their job description, enabling meaningful professional growth through cross-functional collaboration.

Equal Opportunity Statement

Darkroom is an equal opportunity workplace. We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or veteran status. We also consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in accordance with applicable laws.
