Job Summary
Synechron is seeking an experienced Cards Project Manager & Scrum Master to lead and oversee payment-related projects within the Cards & Payments domain. The role involves managing delivery of complex projects such as EMV, NFC, Mobile Payments, and Card Management Systems, ensuring alignment with business strategies, compliance standards, and industry best practices. As a key driver in project execution, your leadership will ensure the successful delivery of solutions that enhance client value, improve operational efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Software Requirements
Required Skills:
Proficiency in project management tools, particularly JIRA (version 7.x or higher) and Microsoft Project
Experience in tracking, planning, and reporting project progress, risks, and dependencies
Strong knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies
Familiarity with payment processing systems, security protocols, and compliance regulations (e.g., PCI DSS, EMV standards)
Excellent stakeholder management and communication tools (e.g., MS Teams, SharePoint)
Preferred Skills:
Certification in project management (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
Experience with enterprise-level portfolio management tools
Familiarity with payment industry standards, API standards, and security arrangements
Overall Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end delivery of multiple payment projects, ensuring alignment with scope, timelines, and quality standards
Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies with a milestone-centric approach
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, managing their expectations and ensuring clear communication
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including technical, business, compliance, and vendor teams, to deliver solutions successfully
Drive Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, fostering a team-oriented environment
Monitor project health using established KPIs, identify and mitigate risks, and escalate issues as needed
Ensure adherence to best practices, regulatory standards, and organizational policies throughout project lifecycle
Coach and mentor team members, encouraging best practices and continuous improvement
Collaborate with compliance and security teams to ensure solutions meet all regulatory standards and security protocols
Contribute to strategic planning and process enhancement initiatives for project delivery excellence

Minimum of 6+ years in project management within the Cards & Payments industry or related financial services
Proven track record of managing complex payment, card management, or financial technology projects
Experience with Agile and Waterfall project execution, delivering on time and within scope
Experience collaborating with technical teams, vendors, and business units to deliver integrated solutions
Experience leading teams, mentoring, and stakeholder engagement in a matrix environment
Industry-specific experience in payments digital transformation, EMV, NFC, or regulatory compliance preferred
Day-to-Day Activities
Develop and oversee detailed project plans, prioritizing key milestones and deliverables
Conduct project meetings, facilitate Agile ceremonies, and maintain strong communication across teams
Track project progress, manage risks, and report status to senior management and stakeholders
Coordinate dependencies across teams and external vendors to ensure seamless delivery
Drive issue resolution, escalate critical risks, and implement mitigation strategies
Lead project scope changes, budget management, and quality enhancements
Collaborate closely with technical teams on system design, security, and compliance requirements
Manage documentation, process adherence, and project archives for audit purposes
Promote continuous improvement in project governance, delivery standards, and stakeholder engagement
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Management, or related field
Certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Agile Scrum Master are preferred
Extensive experience managing payment or card-related projects, ideally within a financial services environment
