Lead elicitation, documentation, and management of business and functional requirements for P&C and specialty insurance. Produce BRDs, user stories, process maps, and traceability artifacts; model current/future-state processes; partner on system design and API integration; run workshops and sprint ceremonies; manage requirements backlog, change requests, and UAT/defect triage; maintain business voice through SDLC.
Responsibilities- Elicit, document, and manage business and functional requirements across commercial lines (property, casualty, liability) and specialty risks (marine, D&O, cyber). Produce high-quality artefacts — BRDs, user stories, process maps, data dictionaries, and traceability matrices — that bridge business intent and IT delivery. Model current and future-state business processes using standard notations, identifying gaps and improvement opportunities. Partner with solution architects on system design, API integration points, and data flow across policy, claims, billing, and reinsurance systems. Lead workshops, JAD sessions, and sprint ceremonies to align stakeholders and drive decisions. Manage change requests, conduct impact assessments, and maintain the requirements backlog through the full SDLC. Support UAT planning, defect triage, and sign-off — acting as the voice of the business throughout testing. Stay current on insurance regulatory developments and emerging technology trends (AI/ML underwriting, open APIs, cloud migration). Must-haves 8 to 10 years as a BA in insurance IT Solid working knowledge of P&C insurance lifecycle — policy, claims, billing, reinsurance Hands-on with tools like Visio, Lucidchart, or equivalent Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, or comparable ALM tooling Experience in Agile/Scrum and waterfall delivery environments Strong stakeholder management and communication skills Nice-to-haves Exposure to specialty lines (cyber, marine, D&O, professional indemnity) Familiarity with core systems: Guidewire, Duck Creek, Majesco, or similar Understanding of insurance data standards (ACORD, CSIO) API literacy — ability to read REST/OpenAPI specs CBAP, PMI-PBA, or equivalent BA certification Experience on cloud migration or modernisation programmes
