Role: Lead -  Database Engineer

Experience Level: 5 to 8 Years 

Location: Mumbai / Bangalore (Hybrid)

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Leverage understanding of the modern AWS Data stack and agile delivery models and demonstrate focus on building business data pipelines.

• Function as senior member of an agile team and help drive consistent development practices, tools usage, common components, and patterns.

• Direct the identification and recommendation of appropriate solutions for large cloud based database schema and workloads for dashboarding and quick query time optimized design.

• Perform hands-on design, development and optimization of queries.

• Work on enterprise-grade data lake/mart projects leveraging the suite of AWS services in data and analytics.

• Ability to speak in business terms, as well as the ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally.

• Works with the team to offer cost-optimized solutions.

• Guide and help developers using best database queries development practices.

• Develop strategies to handle large datasets efficiently and implement data processing techniques to manage and analyze large datasets.

• Ability to clearly communicate technical roadmap, challenges and mitigation.

• Effective communication with all the stakeholders involved. 

Skill Set Needed: 

• Bachelor's OR Master's degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field. 

• 5 to 9 years of relevant work experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.

• Demonstrated problem solving, communication and organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the proven ability to negotiate and influence others to obtain desired results.

• Ability to design, implement, and document data architecture and data modeling solutions,which include the use of relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases.

• Working knowledge in stabilizing progressive DB environments and building database pipeline for effective feature level deployment on multiple tenants.

• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Developers, QA, Project Managers, and other stakeholders to understand their requirements and implement solutions.

• Experience building and supporting large-scale systems in a production environment.

• Hands-on experience in AWS Cloud with services such as AWS Glue, AWS Athena, AWS EC2,Lambda, S3 for ETL and Catalog, Parquet files.

• Highly proficient with database performance tuning and query optimization.

• Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies.

• Experience using Github/codecommit for developmental activities.

• Experience in building data pipelines using Glue+Athena+S3 would be preferable.

Good to Have:

• Experience working and leveraging multiple cloud services

• Proficient in writing Python/Pyspark, cron jobs and SQL scripts.

• Experience in working on large cloud-based migration workloads involving SQL and NoSQL Databases.

• Understanding of data security practices and database security mechanisms.
