Job Description:

The Digital Marketing Technology team is looking for an exceptional Application Development Manager to manage and lead the design, development and delivery of web and service-based software systems built on an ASP.NET/Sitecore platform. This role demands significant hands-on development, and involves developing technical solutions for both, new and existing applications in close collaboration with internal business users and IT team members.

The ideal candidate thrives in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and agile software development environment. You will work both independently and as part of a team throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering and analysis, design, development, unit testing, code review, and deployment. Additionally, you will provide industry best-practice guidance, adhere to Russell IT standards, and implement tooling and practices to continuously improve our code quality, performance, and delivery.

Years of Experience

• 8+ years of software development experience
• 2+ years of experience as a Development Manager or Team Lead

Responsibilities

• Deliver maintainable, testable, and reusable production quality code in a corporate financial environment using Agile development practices
• Design and develop solutions by combining technical expertise with a solid understanding of business objectives
• Write well-designed, object-oriented code using ASP.NET MVC and Web API, and create presentation layer components using Razor views, React, HTML5, and JavaScript
• Collaborate with project managers and product owners to break down project requirements into actionable tasks, and allocate resources efficiently based on project requirements and team members' skillsets
• Visualize, articulate, and conceptualize solutions effectively to both, team members and clients
• Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, including regular one-on-one sessions focused on career development and addressing concerns
• Follow Russell Investments technology standards, Sitecore platform roadmap, and CI/CD processes and tolling for build and deployment
• Continuously seek and implement improvements to processes and technology, optimizing application performance and stability by proactively identifying and resolving issues
• Liaison with HR on recruitment and onboarding of new team members

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in technical or business discipline, or equivalent work or education-related experience required. Advanced degree preferred.
• Advanced technical expertise including:
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in .NET Framework (4.0 or later), C#, SQL Server, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in React
• Strong proficiency in ASP.NET MVC (3 or later), ASP.NET Web API (2 or later), JSON, SOA
• Familiarity with Sitecore or similar CMS solution preferred

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

• Experience in SEO preferred
• Strong knowledge of secure coding standards and best practices required
• Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery required
• Proficiency in Test Driven Development concepts, methods and tools required
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and deliver solutions across multiple programming languages and technical environments required
• Commitment to staying current with emerging technologies and innovative applications of existing technologies, either through work or ongoing industry/educational involvement required
• Proven experience collaborating with multiple teams, including business units, to deliver solutions across all aspects of the SDLC required
