AI/ML Expert - Search / Retrieval (Freelance / Short-Term)

The role involves improving search relevance and tuning production search pipelines using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, focusing on practical, production-level systems.
We’re looking for a hands-on Search / Retrieval expert to quickly diagnose and fix core search issues over a the next few months.
What you’ll work on:
- Improving search relevance, ranking & filtering
- Optimizing hybrid search (BM25 + vector / kNN)
- Debugging and tuning production search pipelines
What we’re looking for:
- Strong experience with OpenSearch / Elasticsearch
- Deep understanding of ranking, filtering & relevance tuning
- Proven track record of building production-grade search & retrieval systems (beyond basic LLM apps)
- Ability to quickly diagnose and unblock real-world systems
Important:
- Not looking for generic ML / prompt engineers
- Must have built and tuned live systems (apps/products we can evaluate)
