Manage base operations for TRS, Machineshop and F&D departments, ensuring production alignment with schedules and quality. Lead continuous improvement, API and ISO compliance assessments and roadmaps, enforce safety and training, manage budgets, inventory and procurement, and develop and mentor operations staff to improve productivity and reduce risk.
The Operations/Base Manager I is responsible for coordinating the operational functions of all departments in a designated geographic location, with special emphasis on the operations, towards effective and efficient performance of the TRS, Machineshop and F&D Department
ResponsibilitiesBase Operations Management
- Ensure that all production activities align with customer demands, project schedules, and internal quality standards.
- Monitor and optimize the use of resources (labor, equipment, tools, materials) to meet production goals efficiently.
- Coordinate between departments to ensure seamless workflow and timely delivery of projects.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
Quality Control & Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement (CI) efforts, identifying and implementing process enhancements to increase productivity, reduce costs, and eliminate waste.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action planning for quality issues or operational inefficiencies.
- Conduct a full assessment of current systems and operations against applicable API standards (e.g., API Q1/Q2 etc.).
- Identify gaps, risks, and non-conformities in existing quality and production practices.
- Develop a comprehensive API compliance roadmap for certification or recertification.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety protocols and best practices across all departments to maintain a safe working environment.
- Lead safety training and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations (e.g., OSHA standards).
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and safety meetings.
- Ensure the base is compliant with all relevant certifications and industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, API, etc.)
- Manage, mentor, and develop the base operations team, ensuring the right talent is in place and that performance standards are met.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to encourage growth and development.
- Identify skill gaps and work closely with HR in improving the team’s capabilities.
- Foster a collaborative, results-driven environment that promotes employee engagement and retention
- Oversee the operational budget for the base, tracking costs related to materials, labor, equipment, and tools.
- Develop cost-effective strategies to improve production efficiency without compromising quality.
- Manage inventory control and ensure that resources are optimally utilized to meet production needs.
- Approve procurement of materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring alignment with operational needs and budget constraints.

QualificationsEducation: Some form of management training or formal educational experience is preferred. Professional Experience: Skills � Technical: 10+ progressive experience in drilling operations is preferred. Supervisory experience is preferred. Skills � Communication: Bi-lingual is preferred (English, Spanish, French, Portuguese). Verbal communication skills necessary. Skills � People: Ability to interact with individuals in a cross-cultural environment. Leadership and employee development skills. Team oriented. Licenses, Certifications, Credentials, and Other Requirements: Offshore survival and medical certificates as mandated by government regulations are required. Certified in all required safety training programs, including but not limited to underwater safety, firefighting, and helicopter underwater escape. Must pass pre-employment and random drug tests.
