Reliance Industries, a conglomerate with interests in energy, petrochemicals, telecommunications and retail based in Mumbai, announced plans to invest ₹10 trillion, or approximately $110 billion USD, over the next seven years to develop data centers and expand its intelligence offerings.
According to reporting by The Wall Street Journal, Reliance Industries intends to build gigawatt-scale data centers designed to provide high-quality yet affordable intelligence services for both large enterprises and individual users.
The first data center is already under development in Jamnagar, Gujarat, with over 120 megawatts of capacity expected to be operational by the end of 2026.
The WSJ also reported that Reliance’s announcement coincides with the South Asian AI summit held this week.
